The king of Scotland had died without a son, and the king of England, a cruel pagan known as Edward the Longshanks, claimed the throne of Scotland for himself. Scotland's nobles fought him, and fought each other, over the crown. So Longshanks invited them to talks of truce - no weapons, one page only. Among the farmers of that shire was Malcolm... When Cheltam gets ready to lead the English charge at the Battle of Stirling, Lord Talmidge yells to Cheltem, "What are you waiting for? Lead them! " Before the Battle of York, Wallace tells his men that they will be more merciful than the English. They will spare the Women and the Children. To all Mercy! Wallace talks at the campfire about how the graves of his father and brother were desecrated by the English. After the scene of Wallace in the Grove, Murron is captured and is sitting inside the Lord's keep and he is talking with her. He says to her, "What's your name girl? Don't you want to tell me your name? (He sits in front of her) You're married, you wanted to keep it a secret eh? I don't blame him, I'd want to keep you for myself as well. We are NOT a democracy! We are a constitutional Republic. Braveheart remains one of my all-time favorites, and as a Scotophile I'll be forever thankful for its role in awakening the patriotic spirit in the people of Scotland. Few movies can make a case for helping to change the history of a nation (it played a significant role in arousing the patriotic zeal of the people of Scotland who soon voted for a separate Parliament from that of the UK after hundreds of years of minority participation in that larger Parliament. Having already read some books and stories about William Wallace, I was thrilled when I learned that there was going to be a film about him. I became even happier when I found out it would be an epic movie, as I'm a major fan of the sweeping epics! I was somewhat skeptical about Mel Gibson as Wallace, but once the movie came out his performance dispelled my concerns, and I was pleased that he was cast for the role. I loved the color, the pageantry, the awesome scale, and the pulse-quickening action (big guys whacking at each other with swords and axes WAS bloody, so the level of violence was appropriate! of Braveheart. So, they went a little overboard with the romanticism and villainy, but in my mind that only cost them one rating point out of ten. A spectacular movie that I'm sure to watch many, many times in the future.

1 /10 WHAT IN THE ACTUAL F This is THE WORST movie I've ever paid to watch. Not only is it bad like a movie can be bad. It's insulting to mental health, all spiritual beliefs you can think of and the acting is pitiful. I was expecting something simple and not the great Hollywood film, but this was just worth crying over. Please don't waste your time or money watching this piece of trash. 6 out of 9 found this helpful. Was this review helpful? Sign in to vote. Permalink 10 /10 Loved it The movie was hilarious. I really liked. It may be hard to capture the comedy for non spanish speakers because nothing is ever translated perfectly but I loved it. Totally my type of comedy. 2 out of 2 found this helpful. Possibly the worst movie I have ever seen. The plot is terrible. The story is not remotely compelling. The characters are not at all interesting. None of the jokes are funny. It's borderline an offense to humanity that this movie exists. 8 out of 15 found this helpful. SCREENWRITER STOLE $27, 000. 00 FROM ME! PLEASE SEE THIS MOVIE! Gary Marks, who wrote the "original screenplay" for My Boyfirend's Meds / Las Pildoras de mi Novio, stole $27, 000. 00 from me on my 36th birthday, April 7, 1994. I'm now nearly 62, and I'd really like to get my money back, so please see this movie, because I'm filing suit in court and liening the gross proceeds. Thank you! 5 out of 9 found this helpful. WHY? Do yourself a favor and don´t watch this movie, trust me you will be happier, even if you only look at the ceiling for two hours, for sure it will be more entertaining and less painful 6 out of 14 found this helpful. 8 /10 This was a good time I saw Las Pildoras De Mi Novio tonight because it was playing at my Regal and I have Regal Unlimited. This is like it was written for Jim Carey or Will Ferrell but given to an actor who can inhabit a character instead of just a list of mannerisms. A girl falls for the perfect boyfriend and brings him on a work vacation where it turns out he's only perfect because he takes a long list of pills. And he managed to leave the pills at home. Mania ensues. The movie lands on a nice message about 1/4 of all people having mental health issues requiring medication. In addition to Jaime Camil from DuckTales, Legend of the Three Caballeros and Jane The Virgin, the cast includes Jason Alexander from the Aladdin cartoon series, Brooke Shields and The Office's Brian Baumgartner. 1 out of 1 found this helpful. Good fun for bilingual people The subtitles were not that accurate. Bilingual people will enjoy it the most. Jaime Camil is excellent on his role. Funny, lovely, amazing actor. Fun movie to have a good time with friends. 0 out of 0 found this helpful. 9 /10 Very funny. Very funny. Mostly in Spanish with subtitles so i think that is going to greatly affect english and spanish speaking/understanding audience differently. For the record, mental illness is a part of my family and I did not find this insulting. I died laughing with the curandero scene. Great Concept... Poor Execution This could have been a blockbuster if the initial concept would have been followed. Unfortunately, I must blame the Director since there is no one else to blame. What a mess of a movie... UGH. None of the comic bits work. 2 out of 5 found this helpful. 6 /10 Not Great, Not for end credits song Alright acting, Okay execution. Not very engaging though the stories concept could have been great. Was leaving when the movie was finished BUT stayed for the credits song! Really fun and catchy. Ended up looking it up and it's called Crazy Love by a singer named Paty Cantu! Best part of the movie IMO. 1 out of 2 found this helpful. Permalink.

"MARRASKUUSSA 2009 seisoin helsinkiläisen Töölön sairaalan vastaanotossa. Nainen tiskillä kysyi, onko asiani kiireellinen. Vastasin, etten osaa sanoa, minulta on juuri löydetty aivokasvain. Olin saanut tiedon työpaikalleni noin tuntia aikaisemmin. Olo oli epätodellinen, huumaantunut. Onneksi työkaverini oli lähtenyt mukaan henkiseksi tueksi, muuten olisin saattanut sokissa kävellä vaikka auton alle. No, porataan päähän reikä, neurologi sanoi. No, porataan reikä päähän, neurologi sanoi. Aijaa. Virroilla. Etäsuhdetta kesti pari vuotta. Kävelin kämpälle jalat tanssimisesta kipeinä. Opiskelujen loppuvaiheessa aloin reissata. Kun pääsin matkustamisen makuun, en voinut lopettaa. Olin työharjoittelussa Thunder Bayssa Kanadassa suomenkielisessä sanomalehdessä, myöhemmin opiskelin lukuvuoden espanjaa Granadassa. Siellä baarit eivät sulkeutuneet ikinä. Muistan, että usein kävelin kämpälle aamunkoitteessa jalat tanssimisesta kipeinä, kun churropaikat jo availivat oviaan. Riippusiltakuva on otettu Eagle Canyonissa Kanadassa kesälomareissulla 2011. KEVÄÄLLÄ 2000 minut valittiin kesätoimittajaksi Helsingin Sanomien ulkomaantoimitukseen. Seuraavat vuodet olivat huikeaa aikaa. Kirjoitin, matkustin, nautin. 71% mielestä perustutkimus on elintärkeää. Luomalla julkisuudessa mielikuvan vastapuolista, vastapuolet oikeasti syntyvät. Tiedevastaisuutta on tutkittu runsaasti Yhdysvalloissa. Sama mekanismi on nähty oikeassa elämässäkin. Kommentit (57. Full Metal Alchemistia ja jotain muutakin. Oikeastaanhan olin animea katsonut jo lapsena tietämättä nimeä tälle animaatiomuodolle. Hopeanuolet, Superperheet, Lady Ladyt sekä Muumitkin ovat animea. Yksi lemppareistani on Azumanga Daioh. En ole aivan varma miten tähän tutustuin. Joku tätä minulle suositteli, mutta en muista enää ketä saan kiittää. Vaikka olen nähnyt sarjan monta kertaa, tekee minun mieli tasaisin väliajoin katsoa se uudestaan. Todellinen hyvänmielen sarja. Ja todella mielenkiintoinen, sijoittuen japanilaiseen koulumaailmaan. Tämä biisi on siis sarjan tunnusmusiikki. Animen katsominen hieman jäi lukion jälkeen. Pitäisi varmaan alkaa taas jotain katsomaan. We watched among other things Full Metal Alchemist and more. Actually I had watched anime before but didn't really know the name for this form of animation. Silver Fangs, Kimagure Orange Road, Lady Ladies and even Moomins are anime. One of my favourites are Azumanga Daioh. I'm not sure how I got to introduced to this. I think someone recommended it to me but I can't remember who to thank for this. Although I've seen the series many times I still want to see them from time to time again. It's really good mood series. And it's very interesting because it's set on Japanese school world. This is the main theme of the series. After high school I kind of stopped watching anime. I should start to watch it again. Song: Soromimi cake Performed by: Oranges & Lemons From: Azumanga Daioh Released: 2002 Country: Japan Genre: Soundtrack. Muutenkin tunnen monia espanjalaisia. Tää on iso plussa! Kuulostaa typerältä faktalta mutta se on totta:D Se on to do listan kärkipäässä; osta oma asunto. Itselläni on kokemusta noin 10 vuotta espanjalaisesta miehestä. Kokemusta on. Mutta en valita, itsepä sekosin vieraaseen kulttuuriin. te quiero de muchos espanol gigolos: itselläni 15 vuoden kokemus asiasta, nykyään suomalaisen miehen kanssa naimisissa. Ongelmakohdat: a) perhekeskeisyys, en jaksanut anopissa ja muissa sukulaisissa roikkumista, mammanpojat asuvat kotonaan kolmekymppisiksi b) seksi ei todellakaan ollut mitään mieletöntä, espanjalaisista huomaa, että seksiä on vaikea päästä harrastamaan kun kerran siellä mamman nurkissa lymytään c) naisen dominoinoiminen, siis kaiken olisi pitänyt tapahtua jonkun tietyn kaavan mukaan, tyttöjen bileillat tai tiskaamatta jä Damn, I only wanted to hear led zeppelin. Alice Cooperin kitaristina parhaiten tunnettu, tällä hetkellä sooloalbumiaan promotoiva Nita Strauss antoi hiljattain tavallista henkilökohtaisemman haastattelun. Chasing Glory with Lilian Garcia -podcastissa vieraillut kitaraguru kertoi ajautuneensa elämässään vaikeuksiin alkoholin kanssa ja selvinneensä kuiville kolmisen vuotta sitten. Haastattelusta kertoo tekstimuodossa Blabbermouth. Strauss kiittää selviytymisestään pitkäaikaista miesystäväänsä Josh Villaltaa, joka pakotti kitaristin päättämään, valitseeko hän viinan vai parisuhteen. Ratkaiseva hetki koettiin New Orleansissa vuonna 2015. ”Josh on aina uskonut ’kovaan rakkauteen’. ”.

Seems to me to make sense to have a witcher school in the north (Kaer Morhen) and one in to the west in Velen (Last Bastion. Then maybe the cat was in the South near Toussaint? I haven't read the books yet so could be just a castle that suffered in a war in one of the books but I like to think it's a witcher school.

A sequel to 2015's Detective Chinatown, the film was released in China on February 16, 2018. [5] [6] [7] Plot [ edit] Qin Feng ( Liu Haoran) thought he was going to attend his distant uncle Tang Ren's ( Wang Baoqiang) wedding, which turned out to be a hoax. Tang Ren had deceived Qin Feng to come to New York for another purpose. Godfather of Chinatown, Uncle Qi ( Kenneth Tsang), gathered the world's best detectives from an app called Crimaster (which allows real detectives to upload their cases for the online community to solve them) and set up a competition to locate his grandson's killer within one week for a reward of five million dollars. His grandson Jason was found in a temple with his heart torn out and an unknown symbol on a table near him. Unexpectedly, Qin Feng, the world's second-top detective and the world's third-top detective noticed another similar murder in the Hudson River one week before the investigation began. A white woman was also killed but lost her kidney. The two men pulled out surveillance videos of the two crime scenes and found that a man appeared at both crime scenes. They identify the man as Song Yi ( Xiao Yang). However, after observing that Song Yi is right-handed, Qin Feng concludes that he could not be the killer since evidence suggests that the killer is left-handed. While Qin Feng and Tang Ren knew that Song Yi was not the killer, this was not everyone else's consensus, and so the duo had to clear Song Yi's name and find the real killer. Eventually, with the help of Tang Ren's knowledge of Feng shui and Wu Xing, Qin Feng discovered the killer's motive. Due to the unique location of the murders, the time of the crimes, the eight characters of the victims' birthdays and the organs, he concluded the whole of New York was being used as an altar. Finally, they find out that the doctor who was battling cancer believed that doing ancient Taoist rituals could grant him immortality, and was behind the murders.

Set in France in the late 18th century, the film tells the story of a forbidden affair between an aristocrat and a painter commissioned to paint her portrait. Portrait of a Lady on Fire was selected to compete for the Palme d'Or at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival. [3] [4] The film won the Queer Palm at Cannes, becoming the first film directed by a woman to win the award. [5] Sciamma also won the award for Best Screenplay at Cannes. [6] [7] [8] The film was theatrically released in France on 18 September 2019. [9] It was nominated for Independent Spirit Awards, Critics' Choice Awards and Golden Globe Awards for Best Foreign Language Film and was chosen by the National Board of Review as Top Five Foreign Language Films of 2019. Plot [ edit] At the end of the eighteenth century, Marianne, a young painter, is teaching painting lessons. One of her students asks her about a painting of hers, which Marianne calls "Portrait of a Lady on Fire". Years prior, Marianne arrives on an isolated island in Brittany. She had been commissioned to paint a portrait of a young woman named Héloïse, who is to be married off to a Milanese nobleman. Marianne is informed that Héloïse has previously refused to pose for portraits as she does not want to be married. Marianne acts as Héloïse's hired companion to be able to paint her in secret, and accompanies her on daily walks to memorize Héloïse's features. Marianne finishes the portrait, but finds herself unable to betray Héloïse's trust and reveals her true reason for arriving. After Héloïse criticises the painting, Marianne destroys the work. Héloïse's mother is shocked to hear that Héloïse is willing to pose for Marianne over the next few days. While her mother leaves for Italy, Héloïse and Marianne's bond grows. One evening, they read the story of Orpheus and Eurydice while debating the true reason why Orpheus turned around to look at his wife. The pair help Sophie, a maid, have an abortion, and later go to a gathering where women sing and dance, during which Héloïse's dress briefly catches fire. Meanwhile, Marianne is haunted throughout the house by visions of Héloïse in a wedding dress. The next day, Marianne and Héloïse go to a cave and share their first kiss, and passionately make love later that night. Over the next few days, their romance grows stronger. However, it is cut short by the inevitable return of Héloïse's mother. Marianne sketches drawings of each of them to remember each other, and bids a short farewell. As Marianne runs out of the house, she hears Héloïse say, "Turn around". She turns around and sees Héloïse in her wedding dress, appearing exactly as she did in the visions that haunted Marianne earlier. In the present, Marianne reveals that she saw Héloïse two more times. The first time she sees Héloïse at a gallery in the form of a portrait, where Héloïse is shown to be with a child—but also surreptitiously holding a book open at page 28, recalling a self-portrait of Marianne she requested on that page. The second time Héloïse is seen at a concert, overwhelmed with emotions as the orchestra plays "Summer" from Vivaldi 's Four Seasons, which Marianne once played for her on a harpsichord. Production [ edit] Principal photography began in October 2018 [10] and was completed after 38 days. [11] Filming took place in Saint-Pierre-Quiberon in Brittany and a château in La Chapelle-Gauthier, Seine-et-Marne. [10] [12] The paintings and sketches in the film were made by artist Hélène Delmaire. She painted 16 hours every day during the course of filming, basing her painting on the blocking of the scenes. Her hands were also featured in the film. [13] To mark the release of the film in France, Delmaire's paintings from Portrait of a Lady on Fire were exhibited at the Galerie Joseph in Paris from 20 to 22 September 2019. [14] Cast [ edit] Noémie Merlant as Marianne Adèle Haenel as Héloïse Luàna Bajrami as Sophie Valeria Golino as The Countess Release [ edit] On 22 August 2018, film distributor MK2 began the sale of international rights to the film, with Pyramide Films acquiring the distribution rights for France. [15] On 10 February 2019, Curzon Artificial Eye acquired the rights for the United Kingdom, Karma Films did so for Spain, Cinéart for Benelux, and Folkets Bio for Sweden. [16] [17] Neon and Hulu acquired the distribution rights for North America on 22 May. [18] [19] Portrait of a Lady on Fire was released in France on 18 September 2019. [9] The film premiered theatrically in the United States as a limited release on 6 December 2019, to be followed by wide release on 14 February 2020. [22] On Metacritic, the film received a score of 95 out of 100, based on 29 critics, indicating "universal acclaim". And thank you Portrait of a Lady on Fire for this wonderful movie. 😭. I am crying! I havn't seen the movie yet this video has touched me so deeply. Truly beautiful. The ending of this film left me in tears, but the good kind where you simply emote from the pleasure of seeing a work of art.
I had to figure out how to log back into my IMDb account, just to express my humble opinion for a moment.
I had to give it a 10/10 because it filled me with the emotion described above. the entire movie was pure, honest art. The acting was excellent, as well as the entire direction of the film, visually and otherwise.
The film accomplished what it set out to do - share a love story worth remembering. In this case, a special romance that was expressed in the most succinct and captivating way.
What may have cost this movie a star for others (looking at you, 9/10 people) I do not know. I just know that special feeling only certain movies give me after the first watch and this one had it.

Portrait of a lady on fire is just a bunch of snobby French women sniffing their own assess for 2 hours, terrible movie. 50% of the views here are from me. Full Movie Le dam sport.

After viewing several so un-innovative "real stories" Red Joan, Fisherman's Friends) and "social realism" films (The Last Tree, VS - even though VS's world of rap battles was fascinating) I was getting really disappointed in British cinema.
Hope Gap made up for all that. It is beautifully acted (Annette Bening is extraordinary) deep and subtle, and does carry you away.

Im from Australia, so I never heard of Mr Rogers, but I watched this movie lastnight and it made me wish I grew up watching his show. He seemed to be just about the most nicest, caring, kind-hearted person, from what Ive learnt about him and his show. And reached out to a lot of kids (and adults) in need, emotionally/mentally. Just like the movie shows, with the character of Lloyd. How to deal with his emotions in a good and positive way. Especially when it comes to anger. Sometimes holding on can be more harmful for ourselves, than letting go. This is going to wreck me and I am ready for it.

I thought afterwards seven was too early and changed the reservation to eight. Afterwards, she snuggled into his arms, content with the sound of his heartbeat and the feel of his arms around her. Afterwards she brought a freshly roasted chicken, ham, preserves made with honey, and preserves made with sugar. In February 1700 Dampier called at Juan Fernandez and while there Captain Straddling of the "Cinque Porte" galley quarrelled with his men, forty-two of whom deserted but were afterwards taken on board by Dampier; five seamen, however, remained on shore. As he spoke, memories streamed through his mind, memories of the universe before the Schism and afterwards, when he and a few others were cast alone onto earth. No, I'll take care of it, but do you mind if I just go home to sleep afterwards and see you tomorrow? The surface is to be afterwards covered with hay or litter. At first I was very sorry when I found that the sun had hidden his shining face behind dull clouds, but afterwards I thought why he did it, and then I was happy. He held her afterwards until she drifted into a doze. Afterwards, go get the death dealer Darkyn has and apply some pressure. On the 22nd of October 1715 Alexius' consort, the princess Charlotte, died, after giving birth to a son, the grand-duke Peter, afterwards Peter II. According to the story, Evander left the Arcadian town of Pallantion about sixty years before the Trojan War and founded Pallanteum or Palatium on the hill afterwards called the Palatine. They were supposed to do it alone but I rode along with them so's we could get a head start on meeting up with the girls afterwards, you know? He could see nothing more, for immediately afterwards cannon began firing from somewhere and smoke enveloped everything. He became a member of the Academy of Medicine in 1863, and ten years afterwards entered the Academy of Sciences, of which he became perpetual secretary in 1889 in succession to Louis Pasteur. One of the last of the philosophers--Connecticut gave him to the world--he peddled first her wares, afterwards, as he declares, his brains. He remained in Munich till 1650, when he went to live at Landshut and afterwards at Amberg. Forty years afterwards their retreat was discovered. Afterwards Boris Drubetskoy came and began relating various adventures. Afterwards when he recalled those thoughts Pierre was convinced that someone outside himself had spoken them, though the impressions of that day had evoked them. I remember that I came to you afterwards and wanted to comfort you, but do you know, I felt ashamed to. Afterwards in the evening when I gave him his ticket, he again began crying piteously and kissing me. When he heard these words and saw the expression of firm resolution in the Emperor's eyes, Michaud--quoique etranger, russe de coeur et d'ame-- at that solemn moment felt himself enraptured by all that he had heard (as he used afterwards to say), and gave expression to his own feelings and those of the Russian people whose representative he considered himself to be, in the following words: He did not miss a single word he uttered, and would afterwards, with Dessalles or by himself, recall and reconsider the meaning of everything Pierre had said. Here he sometimes attains, even in details, to divinations of the truth afterwards confirmed by new documents and later research. You must remember, Catiche, that it was all done casually in a moment of anger, of illness, and was afterwards forgotten. During the war and for years afterwards partisan feeling ran high. Afterwards when one of the generals addressed Kutuzov asking whether he wished his caleche to be sent for, Kutuzov in answering unexpectedly gave a sob, being evidently greatly moved. Next year he was made a domestic prelate and shortly afterwards a member of the Congregation del boon governo. "All right, all right, you can tell us afterwards, " said Princess Mary, flushing. He died in 926, and his brother and successor Guthfrith was soon afterwards expelled by "Ethelstan and fled to Eugenius, king of Strathclyde. As a youth he fled from home to escape a clerical education, but afterwards joined his father in the coasting trade. "Let God and our gweat monarch judge me afterwards! " said Denisov going out, and Rostov heard the hoofs of several horses splashing through the mud. But afterwards, when she saw her father and especially little Koko (Nicholas), her resolve weakened. The duchy afterwards changed hands several times, one of its holders being Charles of Valois, natural son of Charles IX. Of all that Napoleon might have done: wintering in Moscow, advancing on Petersburg or on Nizhni-Novgorod, or retiring by a more northerly or more southerly route (say by the road Kutuzov afterwards took), nothing more stupid or disastrous can be imagined than what he actually did. Soon afterwards he went to London, where he lived until his death in 1807, never accepting the Concordat, which had suppressed his archiepiscopal see. With unbending dignity, however, he retained his antagonism; and shortly afterwards he was one of the thirteen cardinals who refused to attend the ceremony of the emperor's marriage with Marie Louise. Afterwards went and paced up and down the large hall. His mother married Francois de Balzac, marquis d'Entragues, and one of her daughters, Henriette, marchioness of Verneuil, afterwards became the mistress of Henry IV. In 1876 Garfield for the eighth time was chosen to represent his district; and afterwards as one of the two representatives of the Republicans in the House, he was a member of the Electoral Commission which decided the dispute regarding the presidential election of 1876. He sent an embassy to Charlemagne in 768 and was deposed in 774, whereupon he fled to Bamburgh and afterwards to the Picts. Fabricius afterwards gained a series of victories over the Samnites, the Lucanians and the Bruttians, and on his return to Rome received the honour of a triumph. Her husband, though he afterwards deteriorated, seems at that time to have been neither better nor worse than the Berrichon squires around him, and the first years of her married life, during which her son Maurice and her daughter Solange were born, except for lovers' quarrels, were passed in peace and quietness, though signs were not wanting of the coming storm. The conspirators endeavoured to obtain the co-operation of the prince of Carignano, afterwards King Charles Albert, who was known to share their patriotic aspirations. In 1591 he obtained a dispensation from the vows of the order of Malta, and married Charlotte, daughter of Henry, Marshal d'Amville, afterwards duke of Montmorency. At New York, in order to earn a living, he became first a chandler, and afterwards a trading skipper, returning to Italy in 1854 with a small fortune, and purchasing the island of Caprera, on which he built the house thenceforth his home. Pierre smiled in his good-natured way as if afraid for his companion's sake that the latter might say something he would afterwards regret. Before the battle of Borodino our strength in proportion to the French was about as five to six, but after that battle it was little more than one to two: previously we had a hundred thousand against a hundred and twenty thousand; afterwards little more than fifty thousand against a hundred thousand. They slander him as a traitor, and the only result will be that afterwards, ashamed of their false accusations, they will make him out a hero or a genius instead of a traitor, and that will be still more unjust. According to this authority Jovinian in 388 was living at Rome the celibate life of an ascetic monk, possessed a good acquaintance with the Bible, and was the author of several minor works, but, undergoing an heretical change of view, afterwards became a self-indulgent Epicurean and unrefined sensualist. He was condemned by a Roman synod under Bishop Siricius in 390, and afterwards excommunicated by another at Milan under the presidency of Ambrose. The manufacture of steel rails, carried on first at Terni and afterwards at Savona, began in Italy in 1886. The mainstay of the Roman military control of Italy first, and of the whole empire afterwards, was the splendid system of roads. The kingdom of Italy, transmitted on his death by Charles the Great, and afterwards Confirmed to his grandson Lotbar by the peace of Verdun in 843, stretched from the Alps to Terracina. Her ancient prestige, her geographical position and the intellectual primacy of her most noble children rendered Italy the battleground of principles that set all Christendom in motion, and by the clash of which she found herself for ever afterwards divided. That cession, renewed after the death of Gregory to his successors, conferred upon the popes indefinite rights, of which they afterwards availed themselves in the consolidation of their temporal power. Three years afterwards he died, leaving a son, Frederick, to the care of Constance, who in her turn died in 1198, bequeathing the young prince, already crowned king of Germany, to the guardianship of Innocent III. Gaston de Foix bought a doubtful victory dearly with his death; and the allies, though beaten on the banks of the Ronco, immediately afterwards expelled the French from Lombardy. The Austrians evacuated Romagna in July, but another insurrection having broken out immediately afterwards which the papal troops were unable to quell, they returned. Shortly afterwards he received Mazzini a letter from an unknown person, in which he was and exhorted with fiery eloquence to place himself at the Young head of the movement for liberating and uniting italY. In April Pius created a Consulta, or consultative assembly, and soon afterwards a council of ministers and a municipality for Rome. All reasonable men were now convinced that the question of the ultimate form of the Italian government was secondary, and that the national efforts should be concentrated on the task of expelling the Austrians; the form of government could be decided afterwards. The king having formally accepted the voluntary annexation of the duchies, Tuscany and Romagna, appointed the prince of Carignano viceroy with Ricasoli as governor-general (22nd of March), and was immediately afterwards excommunicated by the pope. Custozza might have been afterwards retrieved,, for Italians had plenty of fresh troops besides Cialdinis army; nothing was done, as both the king and La Marraora believed situation to be much worse than it actually wa, s. During his three years of office he laid the foundation upon which Brin was afterwards to build up a new Italian navy. The dissensions which broke out among them within a few months of the accession of their party to power never afterwards disappeared, except at rare moments when it became necessary to unite in preventing the return of the Conservatives. The mission appears not to have been an unqualified success, though Crispi afterwards affirmed in the Chamber (4th March 1886) that Depretis might in 1877 have harnessed fortune to the Italian chariot. Formerly a friend and disciple of Mazzini, with whom he had broken on the question of the monarchical form of government which Crispi believed indispensable to the unification of Italy, he had afterwards been one of Garibaldis most efficient coadjutors and an active member of the party of action. Measures, apparently successful, were taken to reassure the negus, but shortly afterwards protection inopportunely accorded by Italy to enemies of Ras Alula, induced the Abyssinians to enter upon hostilities. The British government, desirous of preventing an Italo-Abyssinian conflict, which could but strengthen the position of the Mahdists, despatched Mr ( afterwards Sir) Gerald Portal from Massawa on the 29th of October to mediate with the negus. Fortunately for Italy, the marquis Visconti Venosta shortly afterwards consented to assume the portfolio of foreign affairs, which had been resigned by Duke Caetani di Sermoneta, and again to place, after an interval of twenty years, his unrivalled experience at the service of his country. Shortly afterwards his term of office was brought to a close by the failure of an attempt to secure for Italy a coaling station at Sanmen and a sphere of influence in China; but his policy of active participation in Chinese affairs was continued in a modified form by his successor, the Marquis Visconti Venosta, who, entering the reconstructed Pelloux cabinet in May 1899, retained the portfolio of foreign affairs in the ensuing Saracco administration, and secured the despatch of an Italian expedition, 2000 strong, to aid in repressing the Chinese outbreak and in protecting Italian interests in the Far East (July 1900). Almost immediately afterwards an agitation of a still less defensible character broke out in various towns under the guise of anti-clericalism. In some cases there was foundation for the laborers claims, but unfortunately the movement got into the hands of professional agitators and common swindlers, and the leader, a certain Giampetruzzi, who at one time seemed to be a worthy colleague of Marcelin Albert, was afterwards tried and condemned for having cheated his own followers. 1585), the daughter of his employer, whom he afterwards married. Two years later he was consecrated bishop of Lichfield and Coventry, and resigned his presidentship. Parliament declared his estates forfeited for treason in 1652, and Cromwell afterwards set a price on his head. Robinet thus laid the foundation of that view of the world as wholly vital, and as a progressive unfolding of a spiritual formative principle, which was afterwards worked out by Schelling. In his Naturgeschichte des Himmels, in which he anticipated the nebular theory afterwards more fully developed by Laplace, Kant sought to explain the genesis of the cosmos as a product of physical forces and laws. He soon began to give proofs of the violence for which he afterwards became notorious; when in 1497 his brother Giovanni, duke of Gandia, was murdered, the deed was attributed, in all probability with reason, to Cesare. where he was afterwards foully outraged and put to death. Otto's mental gifts were considerable, and were so carefully cultivated by Bernward, afterwards bishop of Hildesheim, and by Gerbert of Aurillac, archbishop of Reims, that he was called "the wonder of the world. " Luria afterwards gave to the Sabbath a mystic beauty such as it had never before possessed. The remaining 200 victims, who had escaped the bullets of the siege and survived the butchery of the river bank, were massacred afterwards and cast down the famous well of Cawnpore, which is now marked by a memorial and surrounded by gardens. Within a twelvemonth he became more widely known by his Castigo y Perdon, and by a more humorous effort, Los dos Guzmanes; and shortly afterwards he was appointed by the Moderado government to a post in the home office, which he lost in 1854 on the accession to power of the Liberal party. A few years afterwards, a Fleming named Rubruquis was sent on a similar mission, and had the merit of being the first traveller of this era who gave a correct account of the Caspian Sea. He returned to Europe possessed of a vast store of knowledge respecting the eastern parts of the world, and, being afterwards made a prisoner by the Genoese, he dictated the narrative of his travels during his captivity. Vespucci afterwards made three voyages to the Brazilian coast; and in 1504 he wrote an account of his four voyages, which was widely circulated, and became the means of procuring for its author at the hands of the cartographer Waldseemi ller in 1507 the disproportionate distinction of giving his name to the whole continent. To judge, however, from the dedications, prologues and epilogues of his various plays, he seems to have enjoyed the patronage of the earl, afterwards duke, of Newcastle, "himself a muse" after a fashion, and Lord Craven, the supposed husband of the ex-queen of Bohemia. The dramatic capabilities of the subject are, however, great, and it afterwards attracted Schiller, who, however, seems to have abandoned it in favour of the similar theme of the Russian Demetrius. On his first return to Oxford the work was " wisely relinquished, " and never afterwards resumed. But be this as it may, he had no sooner adopted his new creed than he resolved to profess it; " a momentary glow of enthusiasm " had raised him above all temporal considerations, and accordingly, on June 8, 1753, he records that having " privately abjured the heresies" of his childhood before a Catholic priest of the name of Baker, a Jesuit, in London, he announced the same to his father in an elaborate controversial epistle which his spiritual adviser much approved, and which he himself afterwards described to Lord Sheffield as having been " written with all the pomp, the dignity, and self-satisfaction of a martyr. Following up this line of investigation, Major Ronald Ross in 1895 found that if a mosquito sucked blood containing the parasites they soon began to throw out flagellae, which broke away and became free; and in 1897 he discovered peculiar pigmented cells, which afterwards turned out to be the parasites of aestivo-autumnal malaria in an early stage of development, within the stomachwall of mosquitoes which had been fed on malarial blood. Having roused the ire of Sir Henry Bagnal (or Bagenal) by eloping with his sister in 1591, he afterwards assisted him in defeating Hugh Maguire at Belleek in 1593 and then again went into opposition and sought aid from Spain and Scotland. O'Donnell went to Spain, where he died soon afterwards, and Tyrone with a shattered force made his way once more to the north, where he renewed his policy of ostensibly seeking pardon while warily evading his enemies. But Baldwin of Flanders was elected emperor over his head; and his irritation was not wholly allayed by the grant of Macedonia, the north of Thessaly, and Crete (which he afterwards sold to Venice). He took part in the defence of Paris in 1815, and afterwards occupied a subordinate situation in the prefecture of the Seine. A survey sufficiently accurate as regards the maritime parts was also executed, under the orders of the British admiralty, by Captain Graves and Captain ( afterwards Admiral) Spratt. In 1894 the Porte, at the instance of the powers, nominated a Christian, Karatheodory Pasha, to the governorship, and the Christians, mollified by the concession, agreed to take part in the assembly which soon afterwards was convoked; no steps, however, were taken to remedy the financial situation, which became the immediate cause of the disorders that followed. The forces of the powers shortly afterwards occupied Candia and the other maritime towns, while the international fleet blockaded the Cretan coast. The maturing of the treaty of peace took a considerable time, and Henderson was again active in the negotiations, first at Ripon (October 1st) and afterwards in London. In 1642 Henderson, whose policy was to keep Scotland neutral in the war which had now broken out between the king and the parliament, was engaged in corresponding with England on ecclesiastical topics; and, shortly afterwards, he was sent to Oxford to mediate between the king and his parliament; but his mission proved a failure. The few who afterwards separated themselves from the unity of the church, and continued to keep the fourteenth day, were named Quartodecimani, and the dispute itself is known as the Quarto-deciman controversy. Some time afterwards Pierre d'Ailly became bishop of Cambrai (March 1 9, 1 397) by the favour of the pope, who had yielded no whit, and, by virtue of this position, became also a prince of the empire. Afterwards, seeing the trend of events, he showed some uneasiness and hesitation. In 1885 Arthur Douglas Carey and Andrew Dalgleish, following more or less the tracks of Prjevalsky, contributed much that was new to the map of Asia; and in 1886 Captain ( afterwards Sir Francis) Younghusband completed a most adventurous journey across the heart of the continent by crossing the Murtagh, the great mountain barrier between China and Kashmir. ( afterwards Lord) Curzon in the Pamirs, and St George Littledale on his first great Tibetan journey, accompanied by his wife. On the other hand, the wars between Persia and Greece were recognized both at the time and afterwards as a struggle between Europe and Asia; the fact that both combatants were Aryans was not felt, and has no importance compared to the difference of continent. If the dauphin did escape, it seems probable that he perished shortly afterwards or lived in a safe obscurity. Thus we do not start with "ideas, " and afterwards refer them to objects; we are never restricted to our own minds, but are from the first immediately related to a permanent world. The relativism or phenomenalism which Hamilton afterwards adopted from Kant and sought to engraft upon Scottish philosophy is wholly absent from the original Scottish doctrine. His father, Jacob Stephen Hawker, was at that time a doctor, but afterwards curate and vicar of Stratton, Cornwall. In 1254 Prince Edward, afterwards King Edward I., was created earl of Chester, and since this date the earldom has always been held by the heirs apparent to the English crown with the single exception of Simon de Montfort, earl of Leicester. Delambre, whose recommendation obtained for him the Lyons appointment, and afterwards (1804) a subordinate position in the polytechnic school at Paris, where he was elected professor of mathematics in 1809. Of this school, which had Lagrange for its professor of mathematics, we have an amusing account in the life of Gilbert Elliot, 1st earl of Minto, who with his brother Hugh, afterwards British minister at Berlin, there made the acquaintance of Mirabeau. Of all his English friends none seem to have been so intimate with him as the 1st marquess of Lansdowne, better known as Lord Shelburne, and Mr, afterwards Sir Samuel, Romilly. I had such frequent opportunities of seeing him at this time, and afterwards at a much more important period of his life, that I think his character was well known to me. He was, however, like many of his countrymen, who were active in the calamitous Revolution which afterwards took place, not sufficiently scrupulous about the means by which those ends were to be accomplished. After the events of the 5th and 6th of October he consulted Mirabeau as to what measures the king ought to take, and Mirabeau, delighted at the opportunity, drew up an admirable state paper, which was presented to the king by Monsieur, afterwards Louis XVIII. Elche is usually identified with the Iberian Helike, afterwards the Roman colony of Ilici or Illici. On his return Agis fled to the temple of Athene Chalcioecus at Sparta, but soon afterwards he was treacherously induced to leave his asylum and, after a mockery of a trial, was strangled in prison, his mother and grandmother sharing the same fate (241). to Hugh Fraser and afterwards demolished. An attempt to obtain possession of the promontory was made by Peter the Great, but it was not definitely annexed by the Russians until seventy years afterwards (1769). At Limington he came into conflict with law and order as represented by the sheriff, Sir Amias Paulet, who is said by Cavendish to have placed Wolsey in the stocks; Wolsey retaliated long afterwards by confining Paulet to his chambers in the Temple for five or six years. But "the angel of the Lord smote him, " and shortly afterwards he died "eaten of worms. " He was the second son of Emmanuel Scrope Howe, 2nd Viscount Howe, who died governor of Barbadoes in March 1735, and of Mary Sophia Charlotte, a daughter of the baroness Kilmansegge, afterwards countess of Darlington, the mistress of George I. She afterwards reconciled the king and the prince, thus saving for John the succession which he had forfeited by his misconduct. If attacked, however, in a competent manner, they would not stand; and afterwards, in conflict with the British, whole masses of them behaved in a dastardly manner. It was during these events that the British won the province of Orissa, the old Hindustan afterwards part of the North-Western Provinces, and a part of the western coast in Gujarat. This sacrifice of territory was afterwards ratified by the National Assembly at Bordeaux, though not without a protest from the representatives of the departments about to be given up; and thus Alsace once more became German.

TLDR; is it reasonable for me to assume it is okay to let my dog poop in the neighbor's yards on our walks as long as I pick it up? I'm at the center of the weekly drama in my neighborhood today. It's a large neighborhood of ~300-400 houses and most folks are on a facebook group to discuss (complain) about things. This morning I was walking my dog. I keep to the sidewalk and only let my dog walk up the yard as far as his leash goes. The sidewalk does not touch the road, but cuts through about 2 - 3 feet in to people's driveways so there is a strip of grass between it and the road. As I walked through, someone asked me if I let my dog poop on "the grass". I said, yes but that I pick it up. 20 - 30 minutes later I see her posting our conversation to the Neighborhood Facebook group and so now everyone is discussing whether or not they care if dogs poop in their yard whether picked up or not. I understand and am going to be avoiding walking my dog near her yard, but I feel like the general expectation dog walking people have is doing the poop and scoop in other people's yards is ok. There are no HOA rules or other laws that I'm aware of related to this besides picking up your poop. Maybe if you wanna be anal you can argue I'm trespassing by staying on the public sidewalk but letting my dog onto people's property. Her argument is that she has kids and doesn't want to have to worry about them touching or playing in poop residue left behind. I can understand not wanting your kid to touch poop residue, but my assumption is that front yards aren't sterile to begin with: wild animals, birds, and dogs from less considerate folks can leave their poop in people's yards. Really it's only an issue when people leave poop behind. I feel like most folks would agree with me, but I'm surprised at how many people in my neighborhood FB group are so against any poop whether scooped or not. So do I have a minority opinion or does my neighborhood just like to complain? Edit: My dog doesn't exclusively poop in the strip between the sidewalk and the yard but most of the time he does. I stay to the sidewalk but let my dog go up a little on the house side to sniff shrubbery and such and sometimes that's where he poops. However, people in my neighborhood have a problem with pooping on either side of the sidewalk whether houseside or common walk side.
